Weekend in San Juan

I was lucky to spend a long weekend with my girls in San Juan, Puerto Rico for my bachelorette getaway. I met up with Beth, Danielle, and Linda at the Jamaica airTrain station before checking in at JFK. The three of us were there, waiting for Beth, when Danielle couldn’t hold it in and announced the news that she just got engaged! Her (then) boyfriend, Steve, had proposed in their apartment moments before she left to meet us at the airport, ha! What an awesome way to kick off the weekend – we had so much love to celebrate!

Puerto Rico is an island where you have a variety of options of things to do. You can sit on the beach, paddle board, visit historic old town, visit the rainforest, and surf – just to list a few. From NYC, Puerto Rico is a relatively quick getaway and in just 3 hours you’re in island weather. San Juan is the capital and the main airport (SJU) to fly in to and has become our go to getaway place for the weekend.

WHAT WE DID

El Yunque Rainforest

  • We rented a car and drove to El Yunque Rainforest.

Old San Juan

  • Went for a run on Paseo del Morro, a jogging path along the water, that follows along the city wall to El Morro fort.
  • Enjoy a post run brunch at El Convento’s inner courtyard restaurant, Patio del Nispero.
  • Spend an afternoon paddle boarding followed up by chicken skewers and fresh coconut juice!
